Youth Committee

The North Country Workforce Development Board oversees programs that help at-risk youth, ages 16 to 24, plan, and achieve their educational goals and secure employment.

These programs assist eligible North Country youth who have dropped out of high school, are at risk of dropping out, or are transitioning from justice system camps and foster care facilities. All youth who qualify are eligible to receive:

  • Educational Services
  • Work Readiness Training
  • Work Preparation
  • Work-Based Opportunities, Youth Development Services

How our programs are funded

Funding to support our programs comes from a variety of sources, including competitive grants, and public dollars. A primary funding source is the U.S.Department of Labor via the Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA), the nation’s principal workforce development legislation, which provides funding for the training and employment of youth, adults, and dislocated workers.

The Youth Committee

The Youth Committee is responsible for the planning and governance of WIOA youth funds as a subcommittee of the local-area Workforce Development Board (WDB). United behind a common vision, the Committe's mission is to build and support a regional youth workforce system and to manage state and federal workforce-development funds on behalf of vulnerable youth throughout the North Country.
